Open call: FEMeeting 2023 Taos

Call for presentations and for workshops

Welcome to the upcoming FEMeeting: Taos 2023 to be held on July 23-30, 2023 in the Town of Taos – New Mexico, United States. FEMeeting: Taos 2023 is organized by FEMeeting in collaboration with Agnes Chavez, founder of STEMarts Lab (El Prado, NM) and Marta de Menezes currently a Fulbright Scholar Program award 2023 at the University of New Mexico. The organization is launching a double call for conference presentations and for workshops/demos/talks. This is an extraordinary opportunity to establish direct contact with local institutions and address audiences outside of the conference hall. Our workshops/demos/talks hosts are: Taos Pueblo Education & Training Division/Oo-oo nah Art Center UNM-Taos HIVEImagine Children’s Museum and Stem Santa Fe/Northern New Mexico College. Our host for the public session on July 29, 2023 is the Arthur Bell Harwood auditorium in partnership with Harwood Museum of Art in Taos. Sci Art Santa Fe will be hosting the second public session on July 30, 2023 which will be held at SITE Santa Fe with selected participants of FEMeeting Taos 2023 as a LASER (Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous).

As a community FEMeeting is driven by the desire to develop and promote a more direct collaboration at the level of artistic and research projects between all individuals who identify themselves as Women, independently of their sex. In this sense, FEMeeting events aim to disseminate projects being undertaken by women worldwide and, as a result: to contribute to the development of art-science research methodologies and to the growth of cooperation strategies that can increase knowledge sharing and bring communities closer. Among FEMeeting distinguishable objectives there are: (a) a strong personal support through instant internet communication between women doing research work (in the broadest sense of the term) in art, science and technology, (b) the encouragement towards the formation of local nodes to support research and artistic creation developed to enable a wide network of direct communication among them and encourage trust, and c) the incentive to uncover and achieve legitimization of women’s work through publishing, academic and other formats. Besides the above, this FEMeeting gathering in Taos, New Mexico is an opportunity to address community issues such as all women’s health, security, diversity and sustainability, in the framework of international rights on gender equality and women empowerment, and especially to uncover the activities of indigenous women and women working with indigenous peoples and cultures.
