In recognition of the vital role of grassroots creative praxis in building our growing global network, FEMeeting announces its first community meetings taking place in Spring 2020: “FEMeeting: Troy 2020” and “FEMeeting: Paris 2020”. “FEMeeting: Troy” includes in its two days’ program a series of private sessions closing with a community potluck dinner and public talks by the renowned artists Marta de Menezes (PT) and Kira O’Reilly (IE/FI), open to all.

Abstract book for FEMeeting 2020: Paris

(Workshop cancelled), co-organized by Leonardo/OLATS (FR) and FEMeeting co-founders’ Marta de Menezes and Dalila Honorato. 2020 Leonardo Space Art, Science and Culture Workshop “All Women Crew” does not intend to discuss the “role” of women in astronautics and astronomy nor to try to define what a “feminine approach” to space could be. Rather, totally inline with the FEMeeting, it is to give the floor to women that work in those fields be they artists, scientists, cultural players, ingeniers and in so doing making them visible and, possibly, imagining a more balanced and non patriarchal vision of/for space.

Abstract book for FEMeeting 2019

(International Conference), assembled by the FEMeeting 2019 organizing committee with the support of Cultivamos Cultura (PT) in partnership with Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa (PT) and Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde da Universidade do Porto (PT).

Many participants in “FEMeeting 2018: Women in Art, Science and Technology” expressed interest to continue the meetings in order to strengthen the network, contribute to the development of artscience research methodologies and grow cooperation strategies increasing knowledge sharing and bringing communities closer. One year after the first conference, “FEMeeting 2019: Women in Art, Science and Technology” organized, once again, its core gathering and presentation of artwork and research experiences in the unspoiled environment of southwest Portugal.

Catalogue for FEMeeting 2018

(International Conference), assembled by the FEMeeting 2018 organizing committee with the support of Cultivamos Cultura (PT) and the Center for Research in Communication Information and Digital Culture (PT) in partnership with Fundação Eugénio de Almeida (PT), Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa (PT) and Leonardo/ISAST (US).

“FEMeeting: Women in Art, Science and Technology” had its opening in 2018 recognizing that the concept of woman might be considered as a challenging one as it is nonconsensual in its multiplicity of roles and arousing cultural imaging. In Art & Science women are today a visible presence in international festivals and conferences, either working as faculty, curators, artists, scientists or having an interweaved role. As the balanced numbers between genders is an undeniable phenomenon FEMeeting calls for contributions to reflect on the status quo of contemporary science and art.
